What is Malaria?
There are four strains of this disease; Vivax, ovale, malarie, which are not fatal but still needs prompt medical attention, and falciparum. Falciparum is the strain which is much more serious and causes nearly over 2 million deaths each year. Approximately 1 child in Africa dies every 45 seconds.
Malaria is a contagious disease caused by a protozoan parasite in which attacks the red blood cells in a humans' body. It has effected nearly 10% of humanity and is extremely rampant in Africa. When a human is bitten by an infected female mosquito (anopheles mosquito) the parasites penetrate through the skin and enters the body. It will travel to the liver first and will eventually attack the red blood cells. This is when your body begins to shows signs of malaria; generally a high fever and chills.
